Some information about Tien La Temple:
Tien La Temple is located in Tien La village, Doan Hung commune, Hung Ha district of Thai Binh province. This place still preserves the memory of an outstanding female general named Vu Thi Thuc (17 - 43), also known as Thuc Nuong - a famous general during the Hai Ba Trung uprising in 40 AD, with her abilities she was honored as "Dong Nhung Dai Tuong Quan". This is a temple built by the people to worship the Eight Generals (Generals who saved the people - also known as Bat Nan or Bat Nao).
However, later on, the troops of Hai Ba Trung suffered a heavy defeat when the Han dynasty sent Ma Yuan to invade our country. In 43 AD, in the final battle, the female general Bat Nan and her soldiers sacrificed themselves. The people, in mourning, erected a temple to commemorate her merits. In 1986, Tien La Temple was recognized as a national historical site. Nowadays, the temple is considered a symbol of Thai Binh province.
